This website is dedicated to providing information about the Mullan Road, the first wagon road across the northern Rockies. As indicated by the menu above, we provide information about many facets of the Mullan Road story, including full texts of key sources of the time, modern essays, bibliographies, and maps. Some of the materials and articles that appear in this website were compiled by history students at Eastern Washington University.

Goals:

• Provide a comprehensive and accessible source of information about the road.
• Encourage public appreciation of this historic road.
• Advocate for the federal recognition of this route as a National Historic Trail.
• Encourage and facilitate related projects, such as creating an audio tour guide of the route.
